3-year-old put outside by father in USA missing

A Texas toddler vanished on Saturday after her father sent her out to an alley to punish her for not drinking milk, according to police.

"Mathews said he directed his daughter to stand near a large tree at approximately 3 a.m".

The 37-year-old told police the child was malnourished when they adopted her, and she often snacked at night so it wasn't unusual for her to be up and about at this time.

Three-year-old Sherin Mathews disappeared at about 3 a.m. Saturday. The child, who has a developmental disability, was wearing leggings, a pink long-sleeved shirt and pink flip-flops.

About 15 minutes after he put her outside, he checked and noticed she was gone. Police discontinued the alert on Monday due to the lack of new information regarding her whereabouts. He told police he searched the immediate area around his house but couldn't find her.

A spokesperson for Child Protective Services told the Dallas Morning News that they are working with police on the investigation and have removed the couple's biological 4-year-old daughter from the home.

Strangely, the family reported the missing of their daughter after 5 hours of the happening. On Saturday night, Wesley was arrested by Richardson police and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

"That does not seem like a normal response that one would do if you have a missing child", Sgt. Kevin Perch said, referring to the father's delay in contacting authorities. He told police he knew coyotes had been seen in the alley where he left her, according to an affidavit.

Sherin Mathews, 3, has been missing for four days.

. CPS spokeswoman, Marissa Gonzales, indicated that the agency dealt with the family before, but she declined to described why. "Those thorough searches involved the use of Reverse 911, trained search experts utilizing K-9 teams, helicopters and door to door canvassing", said the Richardson Police Department in a Facebook post.
