Saritha Nair thanks Pinarayi for probe against Chandy, others

"As the first move, the government shall publish the Solar Commission report". Not afraid of anything as not guilty.

On 26 September this year, the commission submitted a four-volume report, running into 1,073 pages, and its findings were disclosed in a press meet by Kerala chief minister Vijayan on Wednesday. No witness had given any statement against me.

Taking cognizance of the findings of the Justice Sivarajan Commission, the Pinarayi Vijayan Government has ordered the Vigilance probe against Chandy on corruption charges in addition to a criminal case by a Special Investigation Team led by DGP Rajesh Diwan. The reference is only in the so-called letter written by the Prime accused Saritha S Nair. The government has made a decision to register a vigilance case against the former CM.

Cases will be filed against many including MPs, MLAs and a police officer.

The then CPM-led LDF opposition had launched a massive agitation, including a 30-hour siege of the secretariat, demanding Chandy's resignation as the scam took a political turn after two members of the chief minister's staff - Tenny Joppen and Jikkumon - were removed for their alleged links with Nair. A criminal case will be registered against former home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan for "destroying evidence and wrongly influencing police officials" while former power minister Aryadan Mohammed will face a Vigilance probe under corruption charges and a SIT probe.

In several media interviews, Saritha Nair had told journalists that she is "close to Chandy's family and "is a frequent visitor to his office and residence."When Saritha Nair came out of jail in 2014, she received a celebrity status of sorts, with local media channels hanging on to every word that she spoke and asking questions about her relationship with Chandy and other UDF leaders". Meanwhile, the list of names of politicians connected with Saritha Nair kept growing, adding more political sensationalism to the solar scam.

The allegation was that Saritha and Biju Radhakrishnan had duped several people of crores of rupees by offering solar panel solutions and canvassing business using high profile names, including that of Chandy. While the chief minister did not comment on it.
