Just having best development ideas not enough: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday attend the inauguration of the birth centenary celebrations of Sangh Parivar veteran Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary.

He will offer floral tributes to Nanaji Deshmukh and Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. The event was organised by the Ministry of Rural Development which ensured the presence of thousands by bringing in officials from local self-governance institutions and women of self-help groups from across the country.

Prime Minister Modi will also launch the Gram Samvad App which will carry information on the progress of rural development works at the Gram Panchayat level. He said the desired results can be achieved through good governance. There should be no dilution or diversion from the spirit in which it was conceived.

"Our villages are still poisoned with the venom of casteism...." Everyone should resolve to work for the village. He said that by now electricity has reached in over 15,000 of those villages. "It should be outcome based not output based.... At that time, standing shoulder to shoulder with him was Nanaji Deshmukh, who took the blow to protect him", Modi said. Modi recalled that he gave up his political life by refusing an offer from former prime minister Morarji Desai to become a minister in his government and spent his remaining years serving people in Chitrakoot area of Uttar Pradesh.

He added that the "facilities that are associated with cities must also be made available to our villages".

The prime minister also digitally inaugurated 11 Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) and a Plant Phenomics Facility at Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
