Wolves agree to multi-year deal with Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins finally signed his multi-year deal to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team announced.

The 22-year-old Wiggins averaged a career-high 23.6 points per game on 45.2% from the floor, 35.6% from three and 76% from the line in 2016-17. The contract wasn't exactly mentioned but a five-year deal projected at around $146.5 million is expected. Wiggins, still just 22 years old, has had his critics dating all the way back to his one season in Lawrence, Kansas, and carried over to his National Basketball Association days with the Wolves.

It's easy to see why the T-Wolves opened the vault for Wiggins.

Wiggins had been set to enter the final year of his rookie deal that was worth $7.5 million and included a $9.8 million qualifying offer that would have made him a restricted free agent next offseason.

The No. 1 overall pick in 2014, Wiggins was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers and traded to the Wolves on August 23, 2014. "I love it here".

"We feel strongly that (Wiggins) is just scratching the surface of the player he will become", Minnesota coach Tom Thibodeau said in a statement. "We've got to be better. I look forward to doing right by them and bringing this team to the postseason".

Connor McDavid will become the highest paid National Hockey League player next year with the average annual value of his contract at just $12.5 million per season.
