Lawler, dos Anjos headline UFC Winnipeg card

The UFC has added another very compelling bout to its December schedule, as the company's announced that Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos are going to throw hands on December 16th. The event's main card, including the Lawler vs. dos Anjos headliner, airs live on FOX following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. Dos Anjos (27-9), a former lightweight champ, is unbeaten since moving up a weight class to 170 pounds earlier this year. He surrendered his title to current champ Tyron Woodley in June 2016, but has since rebounded with a decision win over Donald Cerrone in July.

With the show headlining on FOX, the victor would have a strong case for a title shot at welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who is now out of action with a torn labrum.

Lawler (28-11) is a former welterweight champion.

Dos Anjos promised to make his fight with Woodley (18-3-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) an entertaining one by pushing the action.

In another light-heavyweight bout, 11th-ranked Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (22-7) will meet 15th-ranked American Jared Cannonier (10-2).

Cirkunov, who fights out of Toronto by way of Riga, Latvia, will be looking to avenge a loss to Volkan Oezdemir, which happened on the same night Teixeira lost to Gustafsson.

Laprise, from Chatham, Ont., is coming off recent wins over Brian Camozzi and Thibault Gouti and owns a 13-2 MMA record, including a 5-2 record in the UFC.

The UFC has yet to announce the card's bout order for the December 16 event.

Halifax's John Makdessi will fight Abel Trujillo while Montreal's Nordine Taleb will take on Sultan Aliev.

Prior to falling to Woodley, Lawler had won his first two title defenses, topping Rory MacDonald via TKO - the second time that he had beaten MacDonald - in July 2015 in addition edging Carlos Condit by split-decision in January 2016.
