Helen Mirren ain't afraid of no ghosts in spooky Winchester trailer

CBS Films has released a teaser trailer for Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built, which stars Academy Award victor Helen Mirren. Look, I'm not saying the Winchester is or isn't haunted, but I kinda doubt all this insane shit went down in that house as this trailer seems to indicate.

Yesterday saw the reveal of the first poster for the upcoming ghost story Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built. According to Smithsonian magazine, Winchester visited a spiritualist in the mid-1800s, when plenty of sane Americans believed they could communicate with the dead, Winchester became terrified that her misfortunes, especially the death of her husband and one-month-old daughter, were cosmic retribution from all the spirits killed by Winchester rifles. According to this theory, the house was so freaky because she wanted to "confuse" the ghosts.

Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built is set to arrive on February 2, 2018.

Inspired by true events.

The Winchester Mystery House - which was reported to be under constant construction for 24 hours, 7 days a week for 38 years - has always been considered one of the world's most haunted houses.

The film also stars Jason Clarke and Sarah Snook and is produced by Tim McGahan (Predestination) and Brett Tomberlin (Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show). She is said to have had builders at her home 24 hours a day, seven days a week, constructing new rooms.

The movie follows Sarah Winchester (Mirren), heiress to gunmaker the Winchester Repeating Arms Company.

To the outsider it looks like a monstrous monument to a disturbed woman's madness. But Sarah is not building for herself, for her niece, or for the brilliant Doctor Eric Price whom she has summoned to the house.

Of course, Winchester is building the house like this to act as a prison for the hundreds of ghosts that live in her house.
