Fierce encounter with terrorists on in J&K's Kulgam and Pulwama districts

New Delhi, Nov 14:An Army jawan was killed and a policeman left injured during an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Security forces also retaliated, ensuing an encounter, sources said, adding that all exit points were sealed. "He was a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen", a police officer said here. The security forces gunned down three terrorists in a fierce retaliation.

"The slain militant has been identified as Muzamil Ahmad of Yaripora village of Kulgam district". A gunfight was reported to be underway between security forces and militants in south Kashmir's Tral district as well.




A police spokesman said security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Nowbug-Kund village of Kulgam on Tuesday morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, internet services were snapped in major parts of south Kashmir and parts of north Kashmir.

Following the militant killings, massive protests rocked their hometowns at Palhalan and Sopore.
