Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech taunts Tottenham ahead of Saturday's north London derby

Despite Tottenham finishing ahead of Arsenal last season for the first time in 22 years, Cech believes that a lack of trophies at their bitter rivals undermines any progress that Tottenham have made under Mauricio Pochettino.

Many now feel that Spurs are the more dominant team in North London and especially so given that their form this season also appears to be better.

Welbeck participated in training with the Arsenal squad as they gear up for Saturday's North London derby.

'He added: "They've been there in the last few years so now I think they have to make sure they win something to show the progression".

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is stepping up his recovery ahead of his side's crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the Daily Mail reports.

There have been some mitigating circumstances, with the Chilean arriving back late from worldwide duty during the summer, and the German hampered by injury, but here we are heading for mid-November and between them they have just two goals and four assists.

"Success is ultimately winning trophies".

"The big factor was the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino", Cech told Sky Sports.

And the former Wales midfielder believes that Tottenham will not be far behind, tipping the Lilywhites to finish third in the table this season.

Despite talk about the continuous failings of Wenger and Arsenal, the Gooners have still won the FA Cup 3 out of the past 4 years. "You can see from his work at Southampton, he showed that he is very capable as a manager and coach". They have young, talented players - well balanced. "This season we need to get a Champions League spot".

With their contracts running out in 2018 it has been suggested that Arsenal should allow both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to leave for the good of the team.

"They are an important part of the team", he added.
