Buhari arrives Enugu airport for South-East visit

When I met with the leaders of the South-east in Abuja last month, they raised several issues of concern including the state of the roads and infrastructure in the region.

After touching down in Enugu, the president proceeded to Abakaliki township stadium in Ebonyi State for the commencement of the tour.

"I will like to commend His Excellency, Governor David Umahi, for his vision and commitment to the development of Ebonyi State which included some of the projects I commissioned since my arrival".

The president also attended the unveiling of the statue of one of the founding fathers of Nigeria Akanu Ibiam.

The president's first stop was the coal city, Enugu state, where he was given a warm welcome by state governors in the region, as well as traditional leaders at the airport.

The president had earlier inaugurated the 14.5km Abakiliki-Afikpo federal road constructed by the Ebonyi State government.

In an address presented on behalf of Ebonyi Elders, Egwu also called for urgent intervention by the federal government to curb intra-communal clashes as well as cross-border disputes in the region.

"We want to thank you for your assistance in areas of agriculture, harnessing of mineral resources among other areas of the state's development".

Stay here as I bring you more updates. It is an honour that is well deserved, Your Excellency.

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu for a two-day working visit to the South-East.
