Dubai Airshow: Wizz Air order 146 A320neo family aircraft

The deal is expected to be officially announced later Wednesday at the Dubai Air Show, they added.

The deal includes aircraft for Wizz Air, Frontier Airlines, Jetsmart and Mexico's Volaris.

The deal will be considered a triumph for Airbus amid continued speculation as to whether it would secure an order from Dubai carrier Emirates for additional A380s at this week's Dubai Airshow.

It would be the biggest ever order for Airbus and would more than double the value of the company's sales for the year. Under the memorandum of understanding Wizz Air has the right to substitute a number of the A320neo aircraft with the Airbus A321neo and vice versa, depending on its future requirements.

While deliveries will start in 2022, the bulk of the aircraft will be delivered in 2025 and 2026, following on from the delivery of the 110 Airbus A321neo aircraft ordered by Wizz Air in 2015.

A spokesman for Airbus declined to comment, as did Indigo says Bloomberg.

It will also allow Airbus to overtake Boeing, with a total of 718 orders against its American rival's 605.

Separately, Egyptair, which placed an initial order for 12 Bombardier CSeries on Tuesday, could return for more airplanes from the larger planemakers, industry sources said.

Reuters reported on Sunday that budget carrier flydubai was talking to Airbus and Boeing about a potential new order for up to 175 passenger jets and talks had accelerated.
