Prosise done for the season, giving Mike Davis shot with Seahawks

Signing him was a logical move given the Seahawks' need for cornerback depth and Maxwell's familiarity with Seattle's defense, which will give him a chance to provide immediate help.

Expect rookie Shaq Griffin or the recently-signed Byron Maxwell to draw the unenviable assignment of covering Jones in Sherman's place.

Davis, who has been on the team's practice squad all season, takes spot of C.J. Prosise, who is being placed on injured reserve.

Sherman ruptured his Achilles in Thursday's 22-16 win at Arizona and will have surgery this week that will knock him out for the season. In his absence, the Seahawks went with Jeremy Lane for the rest of the game.

Apparently, Quinn still has good relationships from his time in Seattle too, including one with pro-bowl cornerback Richard Sherman.

The 29-year-old has gone through a workout with Seattle on Monday morning prior to re-signing with the team.

Maxwell spent only one season with the Eagles before being traded to the Miami Dolphins.

Prosise, 23, has struggled to establish himself as a nice complementary piece in Seattle's crowded backfield the way he did last campaign.

Davis was a fourth-round pick of the 49ers in 2015 out of SC. He was released by Miami late last month after playing just two games this season, having been benched and also dealing with a hamstring issue. Throughout his career, he has 52 passes defensed and 10 interceptions.
