Powerful 6.9-magnitude quake strikes Tibet, tremor felt in Arunachal

As per the data, the epicenter was the Nyingchi City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region close to Arunachal Pradesh.

People across the Northeastern region woke up to a tremor last a couple of seconds at around 4:04 AM on Saturday as a major quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale hit south-eastern Tibet. According to an assessment of the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the earthquake's intensity was measured at magnitude 6.9. The quake struck at a profundity of around 10 km, state-run Xinhua news organization revealed.




A strong quake has shaken China's Tibet region but there's no immediate word on damage or casualties. There is however no report of any loss of life or damage to property from any of the Northeastern states.

The police superintendent of west siang district said strong tremors were felt at district headquarter Along and others parts of the district around 4 am.
