Valkyria Chronicles 4 introduces Grenadier class

Valkyria Chronicles 4 introduces Grenadier class

The announcement has been met by a warm response from fans who still feel let down by last year's middling spin-off Valkyria Revolution. Upon its conclusion, Valkyria Chronicles 4 was officially announced.

A new soldier called "Grenadier" is being introduced, and they'll be able to use grenade launchers to shoot from long range or shoot up to high altitudes. The game, essentially another fantasy version of the World War II story, and will come in 2018. In Europe and North America, Valkyria Chronicles 4 will release next year on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch, the launch window for the West is confirmed for sometime in 2018. With victory slipping away, the Federation executes Operation Northern Cross: a last-ditch attempt to capture the imperial capital and end the war.

After a week of teases, Sega has announced Valkyria Chronicles 4 as a new entry that returns the series to its original setting and genre. You play a handful of characters, including the "eager, young Commander Claude Wallace, engineer/heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, ice-cold ace sniper Kai Schulen, and more".

Expect the same turn-based strategy RPG mixed with third-person shooting gameplay, arty watercolour anime visuals and another score from Hitoshi Sakimoto.

A press release goes on to say that all of these characters will "experience the painful realities of war". They've been working on creating a new visually expressive world that combines the look and "warmth" of a watercolor painting but with today's newest rendering technology.
