Need for Speed Payback increases rewards and tweaks lootboxes

Need for Speed Payback increases rewards and tweaks lootboxes

It follows a similar move by EA's DICE to overhaul progression in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in its first week of release, after much criticism of the grinding required to unlock popular Star Wars characters.

Increased the amount of Bank awarded by taking part in events. The same applies for competing against Roaming Racers.

"Today's changes are just phase one and we have further tweaks coming", Ghost Games concluded. The reviews have not been especially kind, and the most critical have lamented the fact that the game's loot box system results in a quite frustrating late-game grind - that can be alleviated via purchasing microtransactions.

"Unlike past Need for Speed games, which let you swap out individual parts, Payback takes the Madden/FIFA Ultimate Team approach, with upgrades being tied to randomized Speed Cards". Playing through the game's storyline will not net you everything you need, and will still rely on you gaining random drops of parts in order to boost the performance of your auto. Even if you didn't finish in first place in races, you'll still see an increase in reputation and money going into your winnings.

According to the subreddit NFS Rides, developers are entirely revamping progression processes and bait crates. Future updates will change the way tune-up shops work, particularly with regard to the quality and level of parts they have in stock.

Bait crates now reward increased Bank. Now it appears that EA is also making some changes to the progression system on their other big AAA title, namely Need for Speed Payback.

Competing against a Roaming Racer will reward you with increased Bank. Development studio Ghost revealed on Friday that it is increasing the rate that Need For Speed: Payback, its new open-world racer, doles out rewards, in-game currency, and vehicles.

As always, keep the feedback coming.

On the Need for Speed Reddit, F8RGE acknowledges the changes have come about following fan feedback on their "experience with the progression".
