Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at 79

Kapoor was keeping unwell since quite some time. Shashi Kapoor made his debut as hero in the 1961 film Dharmputra and then went on to rule the Bollywood from till the late 1980s. He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday with a chest infection and succumbed to it on Monday. Born in 1983, Shashi Kapoor carried forward the legacy of his legendary father Prithviraj Kapoor along with his brothers Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. He has three sons, Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor also worked as assistant director in the '50s.

The veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor, one of the most famous members of the Kapoor family, is no more.

He won several national film awards and was awarded the Padma Bhushan civilian honour by the Indian government in 2011.




His numerous successes in Hindi language films in the early part of his career include "Waqt", "Jab Jab Phool Khile", "Haseena Maan Jayegi", "Pyar Ka Mausam", and "Aa Gale Lag Jaa" (1973).

Saddened by the passing away of veteran actor Shashi Kapoor. He had previously undergone a bypass surgery and had also suffered a chest infection in 2014. His performance in films like Deewar, Junoon and Kalyug among many others is remembered by movie buffs even today.
