Florida State meeting with Oregon's Willie Taggart today

For the first time in over four decades, FSU football is actually in the market for a football coach after Jimbo Fisher made a decision to abandon ship for a big payday at a middle of the road SEC program, Texas A&M.

After reportedly meeting with FSU on Monday, Taggart scrapped a recruiting visit with four-star receiver Miles Battle, according to 247Sports.

Feldman's information may be the more accurate of the two as an OR recruiting target tweeted a picture with the coach and the coach is definitely not wearing Florida State colors. That has led to speculation that Taggart could depart OR after one season for what would be considered a dream job at Florida State.

Taggart joined OR this past offseason after leading South Florida to a 24-25 (18-14 AAC) record during four seasons, including a 10-2 (7-1) finish in 2016.

OR officials were said to be expecting a decision on Taggart's future early this week.

Before going to Oregon, Taggart spent four seasons as coach at USF (2013-16) and three at Western Kentucky (2010-12), his alma mater.

Taggart and Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente are rumored to be Florida State's first choices to replace Fisher. The piece sounds a lot like the last few days of the Jimbo Fisher era at Florida State.
