As for the user interface of the game, Niantic is preparing a new look for "Ingress Prime".

The new game will look significantly better than the first and will be hosted on the same platform as Pokemon Go, meaning updates and improvements can be rolled out to both simultaneously.

Niantic, the creators of Pokémon Go, announced that it will reboot its first augmented reality game as Ingress Prime. However, for some reasons, the re-launch of the game has now slipped into 2018, a very busy year for Niantic, as the company plans to release yet another AR game based on the Harry Potter franchise.

While new features will integrate a smartphone's camera to help further immerse players in the sci-fi world of Ingress. Niantic is bringing Ingress back, though, and they're doing so with some of the lessons they've learned throughout the life of Pokemon Go. The launch of Ingress Prime in 2018 will kick off a massive new story arc, beginning a brand new narrative for Agents worldwide. Additionally, the global game board will reset as part of the new storyline, with current Agents able to retain all of their current in-game progression, level and items in Ingress Prime. Hanke said, "Short of doing a $200 million motion picture, anime is a great way to introduce a world like Ingress, because you can really pull people into a world that goes beyond the everyday".

Ingress Prime will be available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices in 2018. For one thing, it is also planning on launching its third AR title, "Harry Potter: Wizards Unit", next year.
