The award is given to an athlete who uses their fame and platform to promote change, which quarterback Kaepernick did when he knelt during the USA national anthem at various football games to draw attention to racial discrimination and acts of police brutality. She also explained why the former 49ers quarterback was the ideal person to take the award home this year.




On Tuesday evening, the blacklisted quarterback was honored with Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award. To change perception, to change the way we treat each other.
