Champions League In Focus - Liverpool vs Spartak Moscow Preview

As we enter the final matchday of this year's Champions League group stage, both Liverpool and Spartak Moscow will enter Wednesday nights matchup knowing they both still have a chance of booking their spot in the knockout stages.

Liverpool take on APOEL in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday before taking on Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Spartak can qualify with a win with the groups decided on head-to-head records rather than goal difference, meaning victory by any score-line would put them into the next round and likely condemn Liverpool to the Europa League.

"First of all, there is absolutely no reason to think about that; I can not think before each game about a 3-0 lead and then that the other team will come back", Klopp stated.

Liverpool are on an eight-match unbeaten run heading into the clash, having moved into fourth in the Premier League.

Liverpool's season is now focused around a top four finish, progress in the Champions League with the squad Klopp now has, he should be playing strong teams in every round of the FA Cup, which is something he has not done in the past.

"All good and bad things that happened in the Champions League - mostly good - has brought us to this situation and if we win we are through and that is cool", said Klopp, whose Liverpool side are bidding to reach the knockout stages for the first time since 2009. Emile Heskey scored twice as Liverpool strolled to a 5-0 win at Anfield.

In his last season for the Reds, the South American superstar netted 31 league goals. In their last 40 European appearances, the 10-time Russian champions have only won on six occasions, losing 26 of those match-ups. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their past 15 outings in the competition.
