Westbrook leads Thunder past Jazz, Beal scores 51 points

But it was a stretch early in the fourth quarter with Westbrook and two of the Thunder's other starters on the bench that lit the fuse in Oklahoma City's 100-94 win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Westbrook had his seventh triple-double of the season, finishing with 34 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds.

The Thunder remain in ninth in the Western Conference standings as they prepare to head to Mexico City to play the Brooklyn Nets on Friday (NZT).

"Russell Westbrook, the MVP of the league, got going", Jazz coach Quin Snyder said.

For most of Tuesday night's game, it looked like the Jazz were going to break through and finally defeat Oklahoma City on its home court for the first time in seven years and a dozen tries.

Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 31 points and Joe Ingles added 16. "He gave them a lot of energy and points".

Westbrook started the pushback in the third quarter after Oklahoma City fell behind by 17 with four minutes to go. "If we get a defensive rebound we get a chance to play in flow and the game doesn't stagnate in the halfcourt".

Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal torched the Portland Trail Blazers for 51 points on 21-of-37 shooting, recording the most points ever scored at the Moda Center for a single game. Thabo Sefalosha finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals in a fine performance off the bench, and Alec Burks also scored 11 in a reserve role.

Paul George had one of his best games in a Thunder uniform, scoring 21 points. Roberson's one of the best defenders in the league.

Mitchell scored on a layup to pull the Jazz back to within one.

"Late, we weren't able to secure a couple of defensive rebounds", Snyder said. That's tough. I thought we ran out of steam a little bit. He hit five 3-pointers.

After the Jazz regained the lead briefly, George drove to the basket, finishing and picking up the foul to put the Thunder back in front. It was off target, but Adams tipped in the miss to put the Thunder up 97-92 with 43 seconds on the clock.

The Thunder outrebounded the Jazz 23-13 in the fourth quarter. During Utah's recent win streak, they've won by 30 over the Chicago Bulls, 13 over the Milwaukee Bucks, 29 over the Denver Nuggets, 19 over the LA Clippers and now 47 over the Washington Wizards.

The victory was the third in a row for the Thunder. "I though Russell and his never-say-die attitude when we got down there, just kept us alive". But this win may have been their most impressive due to the deficit they came back from and the team they did it against.

"We stayed with it", Westbrook said. It's not like we're throwing the ball into the low post and this guy's going to a variety of different moves.
