United States plan to move Israel embassy sign of 'failure', Iran's leader says

"And the deprivation of the oppressed Palestinian people from their primary rights in forming an independent Palestinian government with the noble Quds as its capital", it said, using the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and instructed the State Department to begin the process of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

"The issue of Palestine today is at the top of the political issues for Muslims and everyone is obligated to work and struggle for the freedom and salvation of the people of Palestine", Khamenei said.

The ambassadors from Muslims countries are assembled in Iran to mark the "week of unity" declared by Iranian former Leader Ayatollah Khomeini to integrate the two major sects of Islam, Shia and Sunni.

Meanwhile, the decision will also create outrage among Muslims and fan the flames of a new Intifada, extremist moves, violence, and brutality.

While expressing its solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Islamic Republic of Iran once again emphasizes the important responsibility of the worldwide community, the United Nations in particular, to end the occupation of Palestine and the holy Quds and help the people of that land achieve their fundamental rights.

The United States has not been able to reach its goals and seeks to destabilize the region, Khamenei said.

"On the issue of Palestine (US) hands are tied and they can not advance their goals", Khamenei said.

"I am determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel", said Trump, adding he has judged that "this cause of action to be in the best interests of the United States of America and the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians".
