White House: Trump's slurred speech was caused by a dry throat

President Trump will receive a routine physical examination early next year and allow the results to be released by doctors, the White House said Thursday.

Trump slurred his words during a policy address Wednesday about Israel, inspiring media speculation that he may have had a dental or health problem.

Spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the White House believed there was a "legitimate reason and basis for not answering those questions".

"The President's throat was dry, nothing more than that", she told reporters. Trump's physical will take place at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. During his almost one year as president, Trump, now 71, has not publicly released any medical records.

"If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency", Dr. Harold Bornstein, who had been Trump's primary physician since 1980, wrote in the December 2015 letter, which offered few specifics.

Pressed on whether the slurred words might indicate any health concerns, Shah said: "I know what you're getting at". But she testified to Trump's endurance.

Sanders was walking off the podium after declaring a wrap on the briefing when she did an about face, returning to podium. "But I'd be happy to share any information".
