YouTube's top viral video in 2017 was a singing man in an oyster costume. The show, called The Mask Singer, requires performers to wear elaborate masks to hide their identities.

It's YouTube's turn at summarizing 2017, and it just posted its top trending and music videos. which aren't necessarily what you'd expect. It's been produced in Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and China, but this particular video is from a Thailand show.

The America's Got Talent judging panel was so impressed by Darci Lynne Farmer's ventriloquist routine that they sent her straight to the live shows by pressing the coveted Golden Buzzer.

Wojcicki noted that since June, YouTube's trust and safety teams have manually reviewed almost 2 million videos for violent extremist content, helping to train its machine-learning technology to identify that kind of content in the future. Farmer went on to be crowned champion of the season when it finished in September.




Some 250 advertisers earlier this year also said they would boycott YouTube because of extremist videos that promoted hate and violence.
