A Disastrous Justice League Sends Warner Bros

A Disastrous Justice League Sends Warner Bros

Despite the surprising and disappointing box-office showing of "Justice League", though, it has helped in pushing Warner Bros.' passing the $5 billion mark at the worldwide box office this year.

The first step in the so-called "shake-up" regards Jon Berg, who now heads up the production division of the DC Extended Universe.

Geoff Johns is expected to stay on as DC Entertainment's chief creative officer, with it said Johns' role going forward "may evolve, and could be more advisory in nature". Berg is stepping down from his role to become a production partner with The Lego Movie and It producer Roy Lee.

Does this indicate a positive turn of events in the DCEU, or are you anxious that Warner Bros. might dilute a brand that's already having an identity crisis by shifting it under a single WB production banner?

Warner Bros. Picture Group President Toby Emmerich said of Berg's departure, "This is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio". The film was meant to be DC's answer to Marvel's "Avengers", uniting the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman under the banner of a team of world-saving superheroes. Marvel, which is owned by Disney, does operate its comic book film division autonomously, but other studios, such as Fox and Sony, produce their superhero films under the studio's banner.

While "Justice League" is the lowest-grossing DCEU (DC Extended Universe) movie at the US box-office, the same thing can not be said about it in China as it is now officially the highest-grossing DC movie ever released in the said country.

One of the criticisms levied against Justice League was that the film felt incomplete, or that too much was obviously cut from the finished product after Joss Whedon took over the director's chair from Zack Snyder. An early version, directed by Zack Snyder, alarmed studio executives with its dark tone.

Further changes include that it's likely Ben Affleck's last appearance as Batman will be in the upcoming movie for The Flash, with it also said Matt Reeves wants to cast the new Batman with fresh talent as well for his solo flick.

According to a statement from Warner Bros.
