YouTube Plans to Offer Music Subscription Service in 2018

YouTube's music streaming service Remix is still set for a March 2018 debut, with more information to follow in the upcoming weeks.

Google wants a piece of the pie that Spotify and Apple Music are now enjoying.

"Music is very important to Google and we're evaluating how to bring together our music offerings to deliver the best possible product for our users, music partners and artists". YouTube Music Key came along in 2014, giving subscribers ad-free music videos.

According to Bloomberg, the company has already signed up Warner Music Group and is in talks with Sony and Universal Music. Google introduced audio-only streaming service Google Play Music in 2011.

Well, according to a report, Google is now planning to launch yet another paid music streaming service in a bid to rival Apple Music and Spotify.

Amazon launched its Music Unlimited service just over a year ago, adding to Apple Music's competition in the streaming music space - and a major worldwide expansion today sees it available in 28 new countries. The new streaming service, which is said to be called Remix, will include Spotify-style on-demand streaming along with YouTube-only elements like video clips.

"Music is such an incredible global connector, and with Amazon Music Unlimited we've been able to give listeners access to an extensive catalog with the added experience of using their own voice to hear music in so many ways with Alexa", said Amazon Music VP, Steve Boom, in a press release.
