Social Media Is Confused by Mario Batali's Apology Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Walmart is cutting ties with Mario Batali after multiple allegations of sexual misconduct by the celebrity chef.

The ABC spokesperson added that while it did not receive any reports regarding inappropriate behavior involving him or anyone affiliated with the Emmy-winning talk show, they stated that Batali's past behavior violated the company's conduct standards.

So far, eight women have come forward to say Batali groped them, made sexually explicit comments or other unwanted sexual advances.

"Although the identities of most of the individuals mentioned in these stories have not been revealed to me, much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted".

"That behaviour was wrong and there are no excuses". He premiered on Food Network in 1997 on the show "Molto Mario" and in 2011 helped launch "The Chew" on ABC. The allegations surfaced in an online report earlier this week, and Batali was immediately removed from the show while ABC investigated.

Batali co-owns restaurants in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Boston, Singapore, Westport, Connecticut and New Haven, Connecticut under Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group, which he founded in 1998 with restaurateurs Joe Bastianich and Lidia Bastianich.

"I will work every day to regain your respect and trust", the message reads.

Mario Batali, the former host of "The Chew" who stands accused of sexual misconduct, issued an apology to fans on Friday through his newsletter and inexplicably ended it with a recipe for cinnamon rolls. Eataly, the 50,000-square-foot mecca of Italian food Batali helped bring to the USA, pulled the chef's products from shelves on Tuesday. At least three of the women have worked for Batali in some capacity. But at the same time, he also shared a new recipe.

The allegations against Batali are likely to hurt his restaurant business, especially if he is off TV, branding and marketing experts said.

Batali has stepped back from the day-to-day operation of his culinary empire, which includes dozens of restaurants.
