I am committed to finding and punishing perpetrators, Buhari tells Ortom

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Tuesday urged the federal government to arrest and treat Fulani herdsmen on a killing spree in Benue and some parts of the state as terrorists.

Ortom said, "Just yesterday (Monday) in Logo local government, mobile policemen who were deployed to keep vigil to protect the people and the land, this militia came, exchanged fire with them and caught two of them".

State governor, Samuel Ortom, was reportedly stoned while trying to calm protesters at Wurukum in Makurdi after the angry protesters vowed to remain on the streets until decisive action is taken against the attackers. "We have taken him to the hospital, we are treating him, the other one that was declared missing was found today (Tuesday)". "Who is now safe?", Ortom asked. "We are not aware that AK 47 is what they are now using to train their cows and other animals". And when they did a press conference in Abuja in June, I immediately petitioned against them that these people should be arrested by the security agencies.

ONITSHA-THE Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has berated the All Progressives Congress; APC-led Federal Government for its alleged failure to provide security for Nigerians, which has resulted to wanton killing of innocent people across the country.

Benue had brought into effect an anti-open grazing law on November 1, 2017. It is hard to say (what makes the arrest difficult) since I am not a security agent and I am not a professional in that area, but I am told it is a process that will continue.

About 59 persons have been killed in two Local Government Areas in the State between December 31, 2017 and January 5, 2018. I think this is most unfortunate. When he came into power, one of the issues he promised to tackle is the growing insecurity in the country, but we don't see that happening right now.

He said: "Well I am waiting to be briefed about what colony means".
