Another student goes missing from JNU campus

In a Tweet on Wednesday, Student Leader Shehla Rashid Posted, a "missing poster" of research scholar Mukul Jain.

CCTV footage shows Jain leaving the campus from the university's east gate on Monday at around 12.30 pm.

Police said: "As per the leads, we have received from JNU administration, he is no more enrolled there and has completed his PhD from their department of Life Sciences".

Mukul Jain, a research fellow from School of Life Sciences (SLS) at JNU, went missing on Monday afternoon.




Mukul had gone to meet one of his supervisors on the JNU campus, a Delhi Police official said.

Director of the Research Unit at IGNOU, Kaustuva Barik, said, "Jain is a PhD student registered with IGNOU". Jain is a resident of Ghaziabad. However, due to his family's pressure, he ended the relationship recently, and was upset over it. Till now, no foul play has been suspected, they added. Jain's family approached the JNU authorities when he did not return till late on Monday evening.

Jain was not a regular student of JNU and it is unlikely that he had a problem with someone, said a senior police officer. Earlier, it was reported that he was a student of JNU. His phone and other belongings were found in the laboratory where he used to work. "We have shared his professor's number also so that if anybody has any information he or she can pass it", said JNUSU president Gita.

After Najeeb Ahmed disappeared under mysterious circumstances, another student has gone missing from the JNU campus.
