Here's everything that works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa

"The biggest theme is the fight for the connected home between Google and Amazon", Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy said during a day of back-to-back CES press briefings.

"We have over one million actions available to users that [they] can now look up", a Google spokesman told the BBC.

The Alexa in Toyota vehicles will be able to do numerous things Alexa does in a smart speaker: control smart devices, play music, give navigation directions, and get access to more than 25,000 Alexa skills from third-party developers.

"Voice services are rapidly becoming more popular and through our integration with Amazon Alexa, Toyota and Lexus customers will soon be able to easily speak to Alexa in their cars while on-the-go", Toyota chief information officer Zack Hicks said in a statement. At the same time, Amazon offered a set of tools created to help other companies build Alexa into their own devices.

"Google has many more moving forward there are question marks about how long Amazon can sustain the growth".

Google Assistant also will be built into smart displays, said Huffman, allowing users to make video calls with Google Duo, watch YouTube videos, and search for pictures in Google Photos. But at least we know more about the LG WK9 Google Assistant touch screen speaker today than yesterday. But it hasn't been a huge factor in gadget announcements leading up to CES.

Both companies see the competition in existential terms. Alexa has proved to be compatible with many smart devices and will be an easier way to connect your home than trying to hack together a solution with several different apps or assistants.

The firm's $349 (£258) HomePod smart home hub has yet to be released and even Apple-themed news site Macworld acknowledged this week that it "barely competes with the Echo as a smart home companion".

Alexa is also making its way deeper into the realm of Microsoft's Cortana. These upliftments are available to enhance Alexa experience.

But it did feature in some interesting products at CES this year - including a snazzy smart thermostat made by Johnson Controls. Samsung meanwhile is playing catch-up with its Bixby assistant.

Finding products are important.
