Iowa's Gustafson Named to Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 List

Players on the list are considered strong candidates for the Women's National Player of the Year honor.

Young joins three other Big 12 players - Jevon Carter of West Virginia, Mohamed Bamba of Texas and Devonte' Graham of Kansas - on the list.

The Melburnian has been an nearly unstoppable force in the paint so far this season, averaging a double-double that comprises of a career-best 21.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while also shooting an impressive 63.8% from the field.

Bridges was selected to the John R. Wooden Midseason Top 25, the list of front-runners for the Wooden Award, given to the national college basketball player of the year. Allen is also posting a 41.4 shooting percentage from the 3-point line.

Young has been the breakout star of the college basketball season. He scored a season-high 30 points against Temple, his fifth career 30-point outing and third career 30-point, 10-rebound performance.

Young came to OU after averaging 42.6 points, 4.1 assists and 5.8 rebounds during his senior year at Norman North High School - just three miles from the heart of the OU campus. It was his first career Player of the Week honor and the sixth time he had been recognized by the league as he was named Freshman of the Week five times during the 2016-17 season. The leading candidates will be further pared to 20 top players in early February. The Wooden Award All American Team will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament.

Bridges was also on the preseason top 50 list.

Voting will open prior to the start of the NCAA Tournament.
