Kelly Clarkson Prefers 'The Voice' To 'American Idol' Because Of Blind Auditions

The nature of The Voice, with its emphasis on blind auditions, makes the show special for Kelly.

The panel thinks now is the right time for an "American Idol" revival because of how fractured the entertainment landscape is.

Today, ABC confirmed that there will be an American Idol 15 Monday show to go along with the broadcasts on Sunday.

Perhaps the show will surprise me and feel reinvigorated rather than reanimated. "We want it to go right back to what it was known for", said Luke Bryan.

"Literally, we are wasting our time if we are not finding another star", said Perry.

American Idol will air twice a week for the first seven weeks, but then DWTS will take over Mondays.

There will be no results shows, the producers confirmed during the panel.

Dancing with the Stars season 26, which will be a four-week, all-athlete edition of the ballroom competition, will premiere Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC.

That isn't a surprise; Fox said it dropped Idol because it was too expensive and because Fremantle, the show's production company, wasn't willing to change.

For Perry, she revealed that the "biggest gift" of joining the show after "circling" it for the several years is the chance to work with so many inspiring contestants. "It was never a moment's thought for me because I get inspired". [But] I was knocked up for, like, three years. I was couch surfing. I was eating Trader Joe's frozen chicken nuggets every day of the week! "I'm on tour. I'm, you know we don't need to be overexposed", she said.

But ultimately, the goal is to find the next American Idol. The superstar trio admitted they wouldn't have signed on if they were just going to fool around.

That should be a spin-off: Katy Perry Repurposes Idol Rejects. It energized the whole city.

As the OG Idol alum, Seacrest said that it was important for the show to find three capable judges who would "give the franchise what it deserves because the legacy of this franchise is important to the fans, it's important to us [since] we've worked on it for a long time". I've got a little bit of my pop lane.

New judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie echoed the sentiments. "I started out-and I'm loving it where they're saying when they started-I started out with an antiquated thing called radio".

No one even tried.
