Tom Hardy Talks 'Venom' From Brazil Comic-Con

Sony has shared an official photo from the film with IGN, showing Tom Hardy in his role as Eddie Brock. No doubt the film's post-production team is working overtime to get those effects finished, and while this first look image is somewhat bland given what this movie is, we may be seeing a trailer here before too long.

It's clear that the star of Mad Max: Fury Road has a personal connection with Eddie Brock's story and Venom producer Matthew Tolmach has recently been talking about Hardy's intensity and skills as an actor.

There's a lot to unpack from this photo, most notably that it shows us Eddie out on the job as a reporter.

Our first decent look at the Venom movie is finally here. Fleischer confirmed the storylines while at the Brazil Comic-Con back in December. "We want to be as true as possible to the comic with our film", he said.

"Our story is primarily based on the Lethal Protector and the Planet of the Symbiotes books".

As IGN notes, "Venom: Lethal Protector" is a six-episode limited series that turned Venom into a Marvel Comics anti-hero following years as Spider-Man's villain.

"Planet of the Symbiotes", meanwhile, follows Eddie Brock's relationship with his symbiote and the influence it has on him. It also entails Venom taking on a symbiote army with help from Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider.

Filming for Venom continues on location in San Francisco later in January.

Given some of the remarkable performances that Hardy has given, you know that Venom is going to be something special when his work has been described as "a masterclass". Mostly because it's hard to imagine why Tom Hardy would even be in a Venom movie, not to mention Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate.

"Venom" is set for release October 5.
