Huawei wins patent lawsuit against Samsung in China

Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress who played the title role in the 2017 Warner Bros. movie "Wonder Woman", is the new celebrity sponsor of Chinese telecommunications company Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Ms. Gadot will join Huawei's marketing efforts as the company introduces its Mate10 Pro mobile phone to USA market.

AT&T has decided not to carry phones by Chinese smartphone maker Huaawei after concerns about security. The letter also cited apprehension regarding a pending deal between Huawei and an unnamed American telecommunications company.

While Huawei does sell its smartphones in the US, it does so without the benefit of a partnership with any of the country's four major wireless carriers, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless.

A second deal with Verizon is looking unlikely, with the carrier also under political pressure to cancel a planned summer launch of the Mate 10 Pro, according to Android Police. The letter, signed by 18 members of the House and Senate intelligence panels, expressed concerns first voiced in 2013 by congressional investigators.

A representative of Huawei said on Thursday that they believe the move to protect their intellectual property rights can help promote the healthy and sustained development of the science and technology industry. I think is a quite big loss for us and also for carriers. However, Samsung can't sell products containing the Huawei tech in China now. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer products division, addressed the void agreement at his CES keynote speech, in which he presented the Mate10 Pro for the US market. It is the third largest smartphone brand in the world behind Samsung and Apple, but it remains virtually unknown in the U.S. Its smartphones can be purchased online, but they're not on store shelves of any U.S. carriers. More big loss is consumers.

Huawei reportedly asked Samsung to enter into a cross-licensing deal. "Huawei has treated us better than anybody".

In June 2016 Huawei filed a further complaint relating to the same infringement at the Quanzhou Intermediate People's Court, according to Reuters.

Back in 2012, when Huawei was better known for making broadband equipment, the United States warned that the Chinese government may be using the firm's kit to spy on foreign countries.

China's commerce ministry hit back yesterday, defending the proposed Huawei-AT&T link-up as "purely business". Huawei eventually established a United Kingdom office, overseen by the government, to investigate its own kit for security flaws.
