"It's interesting that you mentioned it because I watched the film last night, and I thought, 'hmmm, maybe that's too incidental.' It's a very amusing thing about that because what happens". Tourism Ireland has been taking every opportunity to capitalise on the publicity around the film - and, in fact, our two previous Star Wars films, released in December, have been collectively viewed by 4 million people so far. The film's main composer, John Powell, will work to use Williams' theme in the new film's score, according to Variety.

Mark Hamill (himself) has been singing the praises of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way and Skellig Michael, which both have starring roles in billion dollar blockbusters Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Williams said he likes incorporating the new Star Wars songs with old ones. It's not until the climax of the movie that we see him reconnect to it, as he projects his presence to Crait to buy the troubled Resistance a chance to escape. In between we see him use the Jedi mind trick and make a Stormtrooper hear something that's not there, before pushing Luke to "use the Force" and go all Bend it Like Beckham on a pair of photon torpedos.

Initially, this just seems like a small detail, but when the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi are considered, it changes things pretty drastically. We didn't know the Force let you shoot lightning out of your fingertips until we saw the Emperor do it.

Controversy sprung up behind the scenes, though. Disney then hired J.J. Abrams, who directed "The Force Awakens", to return for "Episode IX". Rian Johnson ended up being tagged in the conversation, and Johnson did end up chiming in on the topic, where he pointed out that really none of the Force abilities are ever specifically called out prior to being seen on screen. He did, however, get the opportunity to direct his own Star Wars trilogy. This will probably be explored over the next couple of years as Star Wars 9 nears completion.
