New 'Alien' Video Game in the Works From FoxNext

New 'Alien' Video Game in the Works From FoxNext

As you may have gathered from that list of games, Cold Iron is well-versed in creating massively online titles, and as such, its Alien-based shooter will apparently play to the studio's strengths in this department.

"Cold Iron adds a whole dimension of game development and play to our arsenal: long play-session MMOs targeted to PC and console gamers". It does, however, have a strong pedigree; it was established in 2015 by a number of ex-Cryptic Studios veterans (responsible for the likes of City of Heroes and Star Trek Online), and has slowly amassed development talent with experience working on BioShock Infinite, Doom, Borderlands, and Metroid Prime 3, among other games. Alien: Isolation, the last major Alien game to release, launched in 2014 to positive reception, with fans praising its atmosphere and gameplay.

FoxNext Games has acquired game developer Cold Iron Studios, which is making a science fiction shooter set in the universe of the Alien films. There was no mention on whether or not "consoles" includes the Nintendo Switch.

"Cold Iron Studios has unbelievable design, craftsmanship and development talent that we are excited to welcome at FoxNext Games as we pursue our goal to build a multi-platform, multi-genre portfolio of great games", Aaron Loeb, the president of studios at FoxNext Games, said in a press release. Though, considering FoxNext's fascination with VR, this new Alien rendition is likely to bring forth an entirely fresh experience. Most are mobile titles such as The Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff, but FoxNext also helped develop the acclaimed Alien: Isolation.

It's not clear what Cold Iron had been working on prior to the FoxNext acquisition, but CEO Craig Zinkievich tells us the team was more than happy to take on the new project. No news on the Alien shooter has been revealed as of this writing.

This is only the second title to be announced by FoxNext Games, following the revelation of mobile free-to-play RPG Marvel Strike Force late past year.
