Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles - 1/21/18 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Now, it's pretty obvious that their marketing department whipped up the different options for the game so they'd be able to immediately post this after the games end Sunday (similar to all those T-Shirts in third world countries that have the Falcons as last years Super Bowl champs), but it's still pretty amusing and gratifying as a Vikings fan as just seeing it made me get a bit teary-eyed. While Foles became the Rams' starter, Case Keenum became the No. 2 quarterback after he was re-acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans, and ended up starting five games after Foles struggled.

Who had that in their preseason predictions? Joseph, however, has led the charge for the NFL's second-ranked run defense.

The Vikings and Eagles have arguably the two best front fours in the National Football League - with the slightest of edges to the Vikes.

Eagles could really use a certain weapon, besides the obvious.

Can Keenum be productive against the Eagles defense?

His ability to stretch a defense, matched with the Vikings' growing array of talent at wide receiver makes them tough to defend. Who would have guessed that the Eagles would beat the Falcons? And it was the stripped-down game plan for backup Nick Foles, crafted by that trio of quarterback specialists, that helped manage a 15-10 upset of the Falcons last week to reach the title game.

After seeing his workload ramp up late in the season, Ajayi could be in for his first 20-touch day with the Eagles.

The exhibition match is a way to honour those players who have had outstanding personal seasons for their team.

The second-year corner is fourth on the depth chart but rotates with veteran inside corner Terrance Newman. By consistently side-stepping defenders and remaining cool in the pocket, he has kept Minnesota's offense efficient (ranking third in third-down conversion rate at 43.5) and relatively mistake-free (third-fewest giveaways with 14).

One potential way to get Alexander on the field is by lining up Jeffery in the slot to see if the Vikings shadow him with Rhodes. Alexander would probably be the guy.

All four games were down year-over-year, continuing the decline that has seen about one-fifth of the NFL's TV fan base erode in two years.

The Vikings have fast, athletic linebackers in Kendricks and Pro Bowler Anthony Barr. Both have defenses that can clamp down on opposing offenses.

Eagles fans are undaunted by the challenges. Don't be shocked if Pederson comes out throwing earlier than he did against the Falcons, looking for inside mismatches, especially if safety Andrew Sendejo isn't back from his concussion. And the club may need an assist from its defense for that to happen.

Saint tight end Josh Hill averaged 18 yards per catch in the divisional round game, with three receptions for 54 yards. Quarterback Blake Bortles is a perceived liability (no difference to the last two weeks though) but (cliché alert) defence wins championship and after a week of being Jacksonville, look for the team that's earned the nickname "Sacksonville" to return.

The Vikes allowed 394 yards and 30 points in a 38-30 road win over the Redskins, allowed 335 yards and 26 points in a road loss to the Steelers, and allowed 31 points and 345 yards to the Panthers in a road loss.

Will Foles be able to do anything against the Vikings' defense?

Finally, one thing to keep and eye on in this game is how the Vikings react to playing outdoors. During the regular season, the Vikings went 8-1 when he threw for 225 yards or more, but just 4-2 when he didn't.

New England is just 20th in the National Football League stopping the run and 31st (4.7) in average yards allowed per carry. Well done on making it this far Jags; you've shocked everyone, but it will end here.
