Now you can watch new 'live news' channels

It will also link to live streams, although these and full replays of specific events will link outside to the NBC Sports app, Apple says.

People can use the TV app to watch live news from outlets like CBS News, CNN, Fox News, CNBC, and Bloomberg on iPhones, iPads and the Apple TV streaming device. You can even track medals using the app and using the News widget on iPhone and iPad you can track results without launching the app. Both Google's and Apple's news hits speak to how those in the business of tech but outside the traditional business of media are looking to get their own share of audience around the Olympics, which is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world. Not long after adding a dedicated sports section to the Apple TV app, the company will now be rolling out a "News" section as well.

Additionally, you can tell Siri to play different networks, for example, by saying, "Play CNN". The News feature now only includes US-based outlets, though this may change down the line.

The News section can be reached by going to the main "Watch Now" header, and is enabled for anyone in the region running iOS 11.2.5 and tvOS 11.2.5.

It's possible iOS users in other markets could expect to see a similar live news feature at some point.

Apple originally demoed this feature back in September when it unveiled the Apple TV 4K.
