Trump's stunner! Beats Obama in approval

Trump's stunner! Beats Obama in approval

Bolstered by the strong economy and quickly shifting numbers on tax reform, President Donald Trump's approval rating hit 40% in a new Quinnipiac poll on Wednesday, his best score in this survey in seven months.

Over the objections of the FBI, which cited national security concerns, the Republicans released their highly controversial "bombshell" memo that was suppose to blow holes in the Robert Mueller investigation and all but exonerate President Trump.

The Trump campaign organization immediately tweeted the comparison.

Is it appropriate for a president to ask officials from the Department of Justice for loyalty?

"Even before last Friday's release of the House Intelligence Committee Republican memo, 49 percent said a special prosecutor is needed to see if the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been playing politics", the report said.

One of the people who also believes this to be the case is the president himself.

With a probe revealing no real evidence after months of investigating, Americans are not buying the Democrat claim of the Trump campaign colluding with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 presidential election, according to IBD. But ask GOP voters, and it's the polar opposite.

40 percent of American voters approve of the job Trump is doing - the highest since a poll taken June 29, 2017.

A list of topics that Mueller has provided to Trump's lawyers suggests any interview between the two could focus substantially on obstruction of justice issues. Half of voters believed the Mueller probe was "legitimate" and 41% did not, however 56% told Quinnipiac that it was fair.

In the Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday night, 50 percent of respondents said they believed that the Russian Federation investigation was legitimate, compared to 42 percent who said it was a "political witch hunt" - an argument made by Trump, his associates and members of the GOP. Yes, the Mueller investigation must be allowed to proceed unimpeded, and the scurrilous attacks against the FBI and Department of Justice must end.

This Quinnipiac University poll was conducted from February 2-5 among 1,333 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is ±3.3 percentage points; it is larger for subgroups.
