YouTube penalises Logan Paul for dead rat Taser video

Paul, who has around 15 million subscribers on YouTube, was heavily criticized earlier this year, after posting a video which showed him discovering the video of a suicide victim - and laughing as he stood by the body.

Paul faced an immediate backlash following his video filmed in Japan's Aokigahara Forest, a suicide hotspot.

More recently, Paul joked about taking the "Tide Pod challenge", which dares people to bite into the detergent capsules.

In the wake of the controversy, Paul also lost a series deal with French digital studio Blackpills and was cut from YouTube Red's original series "Foursome".

The platform hasn't given a time frame as to when Paul's ad revenue will be renewed, but given its treatment of larger celebrities that the platform relies on for profit, it likely isn't going to turn into an indefinite suspension like many hope.

YouTube's Twitter account for vloggers today tweeted it had temporarily banned adverts from his channel "i$3 n response to Logan Paul's recent pattern of behaviour". He is represented by CAA and affiliated with Studio71. After a three-week self-imposed hiatus, Paul returned with a lavishly made video on suicide awareness, claiming he wanted to be part of the "solution".

YouTube told the Press Association the decision had been made to suspend ads on all of his channels after "careful consideration". Last month, YouTube said it will start manually reviewing all videos in the Google Preferred program and set new minimum thresholds for creators to be able to participate in its ad-revenue sharing program.

Logan Paul can't stay out of headlines, and not for the right reasons.
