BJP Claims Party Candidate Injured in Attack in Tripura

"However, it would not be an obstacle for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to come to power in the state after the next week's assembly elections", Mr Shah told the media in Agartala. "Authorities here work under CPI (M)'s pressure", Shah added.

"Next government in Tripura will be of the BJP".

He also promised to take action against the chit fund scam accused, if the party comes to power. He said state government employees in Tripura were still getting salaries based on the 4th Pay Commission's recommendations. He also accused Left Government of increasing poverty in its last 25 years of rule and the number of unemployed youths rose to 7.33 lakh from 25,000 during the period.

The northeastern state of Tripura is going to polls on February 18 while the counting of votes will be done on March 3.

"Congress is practically helping the CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) by splitting the non-Left vote share in Tripura".

The incumbent Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is at the helm for the past 19 years. Senior CPM leader Nilotpal Basu, while meeting the chief election commissioner Rawat, said that it was unacceptable and incorrect that the photo of a person occupying a Constitutional post was being circulated on BJP's campaign material.

He further lashed out at the CPI (M) government, saying that it has been fueling violence, but the BJP will effectively fight against it.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC), which had faced a jolt a year ago in the state after six of its MLAs joined the BJP, has formed an alliance with the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) and the National Conference of Tripura for the upcoming election.

Apart from this, there are three major tribal parties in Tripura- the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) and National Conference of Tripura (NCT).
