Olympics: Snowboarding - Women's slopestyle final delayed

American Jamie Anderson won the gold medal in slopestyle on Monday at the PyeongChang Games, marking her second consecutive Olympics winning gold in the event. This will be her 2nd Olympics after struggling a little bit in Sochi.

The 27-year-old used a clean first run to win the competition, scoring 83.00 points.

Only five riders made it down the first run without falling in the difficult conditions, which also included hard snow, with Anderson scoring 83.00 points to give her an nearly 10-point advantage heading into the second run. She would have to wait to see if that score would hold up, but none of her competitors came close.

Laurie Blouin of Canada won silver, with Enni Rukajarvi of Finland taking bronze.

Team USA's Jessika Jenson finished fifth, improving on her 13th-place finish in Sochi, while Hailey Langland and Julia Marino were seventh and 11th in their Olympic debuts. Looking for breaking news, videos, Olympic and Paralympic team bios all at your fingertips?

The start of the final was delayed by over an hour because of the wind but, after qualification was cancelled entirely on Sunday due to the weather, organisers decided it could continue. The Austrian star fell in the final and failed to clear 52.00 with either of her runs.

Long the queen of slopestyle with 12 X Games medals in the event, including five gold, the Tahoe native continued to add to her legacy.
