Jurgen Klopp responds to questions on Simon Mignolet's future

The Belgium global was Klopp's Premier League goalkeeper of choice for the first half of the season, with Karius appearing in just three matches in the top flight prior to the turn of the year.

The Liverpool manager, as quoted by Goal, was quizzed on what the future holds for Mignolet, given that the Belgian worldwide has been somewhat frozen out as a result of Karius' recent form.

In the first half of the campaign, Karius played in Europe while Simon Mignolet had the responsibility for the Premier League.

Mignolet has shared goalkeeping duties with Loris Karius throughout the season but has managed just one appearance for Liverpool in recent weeks, a 3-2 loss to West Brom in the FA Cup.

"I am feeling good and getting consistent game time helps a lot", the 24-year-old is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"I didn't want to make him nervous if he isn't, obviously he wasn't".

His form does not bode well for Mignolet, and Karius is likely benefiting from playing more regularly than he was before, particularly now he has a stronger defensive unit in front of him thanks to the arrival of Virgil van Dijk.

"He is a great player". We defend high. He needs to get used to Dejan (Lovren) and Joel (Matip).

"Individually, Virgil is a top player".

Liverpool trust that they have bought the world's most expensive defender and also a bit of his momentum.

The centre-back has had an impressive start to his Anfield career and delivered a polished Champions League display in their 5-0 hammering of Porto in the first leg of the last-16 clash on Wednesday night.

"Having the second game at home can be a real advantage for us", Karius said.
