Kim Jong-un praises 'sincere, impressive' South Korea

THE Winter Olympics games in the mountainous Pyeongchang region of South Korea are happening in mostly interesting circumstances.

The sight of athletes from both countries marching together in the opening ceremony drew thunderous applause in the stadium, and North Korean artists charmed many with their performances and synchronized cheers in several appearances in Seoul and the cities hosting the games. Dressed in matching red tracksuits, the group sings and cheers in unison, competing with the athletes for audience's attention.

They had been watching the hockey match between Japan and the unified team representing North and South Korea when he stood up to bust a few moves.

The North Korean cheerleaders were apparently not quite sure what to make of Howard, with some of them giggling when they saw him - before he was escorted out of the rink. "Even the hair is identical", said Ha Tae-kyung of the minor opposition Bareun Party.

The South Korean leader made the comments during a summit with his Latvian counterpart in Seoul, according to the report.

On Nov 29, 1987, a bomb hidden by North Korean agents exploded on board Korean Airlines Flight 858, killing all 115 passengers and crew.

Their presence is proving divisive in the USA, however, with accusations that Pyongyang is implementing a "choreographed" propaganda weapon as a kind of distracting charm offensive.

Among the delegation was Jong-un's glamorous sister 30-year-old Kim Yo-jong who stole the show as she stepped up to the VIP box to sit behind the United States vice-president Mike Pence.

He said they did understand some diplomacy needed to be conducted by South Korean president Moon Jae-in but they were left confused by the American media's fascination.

The Ministry of Unification said the funds will pay for the costs, including accommodation and food, for North Korea's cheering squad, orchestra, taekwondo performers, journalists and other supporting personnel who had visited or are still in South Korea.

South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon confirmed plans to cover the costs, describing North Korea's participation in the Games as a milestone that could help to bring peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The other seemingly positive development was Mr. Pence's telling The Washington Post that the Trump administration was willing to hold preliminary talks with North Korea even as Washington continues to toughen sanctions and apply other pressures. They're doing their best to appease the North to prevent any incident in PyeongChang.

North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-un, has praised the "warm climate of reconciliation and dialogue" after a delegation returned from their three-day visit to the South for the Winter Olympics. CNN said she was stealing the show.

You would have thought the Spice Girls had chose to reunite from all the excitement that has been generated by the attendance at the Games of Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong.

But a special burden rests with North Korea, whose nuclear program violates United Nations Security Council resolutions and is a real threat.

How did he feel towards the visitors from the north?

"They don't speak", said Yoo Hong-sik, 31, who travelled to the games from the city of Daejeon.
