Nikolas Cruz, the troubled 19-year-old suspected of killing 17 and injuring over a dozen in a shooting spree at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkville, Florida, legally purchased the AR-15 rifle he allegedly used in the crime.

Sheriff Scott Israel told reporters Thursday morning the department will take all such threats seriously in light of the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behaviour. "Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!"

At least 17 people were killed at the high school in Parkland when a former student opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle. Students had also commented on Cruz's obsession with guns.

The 19-year-od was questioned by police for hours following the deadliest school shooting in the USA in five years.

Cruz, who is listed at 5-foot-7 and 131 pounds, is being held without bond. All kids joked around like that, saying that he was going to be the one to shoot up the school.

Heroic teacher Melissa Falkowski hid 19 students in a closet during the carnage that killed a total of 17 and injured 15.

Cruz is believed to have concealed himself among the students as they fled the school, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. The president was silent on the issue of gun control. Another victim was found dead in the street, and two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, he said. "My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the awful Florida shooting", he said.

Cruz spent about 45 minutes being treated for labored breathing at the hospital, before being interrogated for over 12 hours overnight by state and federal authorities.

Police and SWAT team members swarmed the campus and began clearing students from the school in Parkland, about an hour north of Miami, as parents and ambulances converged on the scene.
