Sridevi, 54, passes away after suffering cardiac arrest

Legendary and super popular Bollywood actress, Sridevi has passed away after a major cardiac arrest in Dubai at the age of 55.

Her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed the news and said she died in Dubai.

According to sources, the English Vinglish actress was in Dubai for a wedding and suffered a cardiac arrest.

Sanjay Kapoor told Indian Express, "Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away". It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30.

Dubbed the first female superstar of Indian cinema Sridevi whose full name is Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, began her career as a child artiste working in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Not only did she regain her place as an actor par excellence, but also as a fashion icon.

She acted in several commercially hit films including Tohfa, Chandni, Mr India, Nagina, Chaalbaz among others. Her daughter is set to make her Bollywood debut this year.

The news of the actor's passing, which came dead into the night on February 25, was met with disbelief and shock. Celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Riteish Deshmukh, Sushmita Sen, Sidharth Malhotra, Madhur Bhandarkar and Jacqueline Fernandez were among the first to mourn her demise on Twitter.
