Dermen ties for 12th at NCAA Championships

Her distance coach, Houston Franks, said she was disqualified in prelims for stepping on the line at the start of the race, despite her running well that day. She is the current school record holder and coming off of an eighth-place finish at the SEC Championships. While neither team took home a MAAC title, the runners combined for one broken record, three individual performance awards and 13 medals.

In the field events, Audie Wyatt tied for fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 5.55 (18-2 ½), the same mark that earned him second place in the NCAA Championships previous year.

"It's always hard for a freshman (especially looking at my freshman year) to come out and to perform so well, especially at a championship meet".

"We're just hoping the three women and two guys perform at a level that the overall team score is in the top 20", said Dudley, MSU's track and field coach.

"I've learned from a whole bunch of experiences, race tactics and learning how people race over time", Price-Weimer said. I feel good about this group, they've done well all year.

"After a long evening, there were still lots of people here and lots of people cheering", former Iowa Track and Field Director Larry Wieczorek said.

"Outdoors I just really want to be a leader for this team and hopefully guide us to an outdoor national championship", he added later. The title came a year after she finished third at the national indoor championships. "I've been continuously getting better every year".

"Breaking these records is incredible to me", Tausaga said. NCAA record? Maybe more than one. Cheserek finished his collegiate career previous year as the most decorated male Division I athlete of all-time with 17 crowns, three second place finishes and one third.

"Jumping 43 feet in the triple jump has enabled me to help the team this season as well as my confidence", swaid Brown, who finished fifth in a very talented SEC field. That was her second-fastest time of the season. "The crowd really carried me down that runway and once I hit the board I just knew it was something big because I struggled hitting the board the whole competition". Distance coach Ben Thomas was tabbed the Men's Assistant Coach of the Year, while distance runner Neil Gourley earned Men's Track Athlete of the Year. I was watching the World Indoor Championships this weekend and our relay would have been very respectable against the best nations in the world.

Western Oregon University won the relay by.44-seconds over Colorado State University-Pueblo with a winning time of 9:41.40. "I think ultimately I can see him possibly taking down the Manhattan College pole vault record".
