Jack Wilshere Says He's 'No Closer' to Arsenal Extension, Contract Talks Stalled

Jack Wilshere Says He's 'No Closer' to Arsenal Extension, Contract Talks Stalled

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere could be coming to the end of his career at the Emirates after admitting that contract talks between the club and his representatives have hit a stand-still.

SunSport exclusively revealed recently that Wilshere was ready to quit the side after he was left stunned that the FA Cup holders insisted he must take a huge 25 per cent decrease in wages on his current £120,000 deal.

Wilshere has always been viewed as a capable midfield technician when fully fit, possessing a touch and passing range that aligns with Wenger's vision, not to mention the fact he grew up at the club.

Arsenal's Jack Wilshere has admitted that there has been no progress regarding his contract talks with the club.

Wilshere has seen considerable time on the pitch this season, largely due in part to Aaron Ramsey's continued struggles with fitness, and as a result rightly feels he's proven himself to warrant a contract that doesn't rest on whether or not he's fit enough to be selected.

Asked about the intense criticism Arsenal's players have received following those four defeats, to Ostersunds FK, Manchester City (twice) and Brighton, Wilshere said: "If anyone tells you that you haven't got anything to prove in football, they're wrong".

But that is no longer the case, according to the 28-year-old playmaker. "We're no closer to sorting anything out".

The Gunners midfielder will become a free agent in the summer, as talks stall over a new deal to tie the England global down in North London.
