Here's How To Add Mario Kart To Your Google Maps This Week

It comes as Nintendo confirmed they are now working on a mobile version of the game called Mario Kart Tour that will be available on iOS and Andriod.

Meanwhile, we imagine that Android fans are just happy to see this collaboration as it might mean they won't have to wait for months to get a copy of Mario Kart Tour on their devices.

First, update to the latest version of Google Maps (App Store on iPhones or Google Play on Androids).

Google Maps celebrates MAR10 Day by letting you drive with Mario

The day in honour of Nintendo's mustachioed plumber-turned-racer was technically on March 10 - but it turns out that you will be able to Mario Kart all journeys for a whole week. If you say yes, then your navigation arrow will turn into Super Mario in his go kart. You'll then see a prompt to enable Mario Time.

Starting today, Google Maps users can unlock the feature by clicking the question mark box at the bottom right corner of the Directions screen. Once enabled, users would notice that the regular navigation arrow has morphed into Mario - the 1990s' video game character. He'll be a constant companion wherever you're driving this week- to work, to school, or the curry house. "Just do not forget to practice safe driving on the road-we don't encourage throwing bananas or red shells at other drivers in real life!" Well, that's what Google said in a blog recently. The game's creators were Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. Granted, that's all speculative, but most Nintendo mobile games do change the formula of the original titles somewhat to accommodate mobile features. This won't last forever as Mario is only set to drive you around for a week.
