Porch hat-trick helps Australia top pool at Vancouver sevens

Update: 2:59PM HARDWORKING utility Sevuloni Mocenacagi was named the Player of the Final after a good outing in the HSBC World Sevens Series in the Vancouver 7s final against Kenya. From their efforts, Coach Innocent Simiyu's gallant boys picked 19 points from Canada to push their tally total to 64 and cement position 8.

Kenya found themselves at the back foot when Perry Baker scored two quick tries to give USA, who has just won USA Sevens, a 14-0 lead.

Earlier, Kenya had beaten United States 24-19 in the semi finals thanks to a last minute try from Ouma.

However, had their burners on, with Ouma chalking a swift pass to Nelson Oyoo who finished off as Kenya reduced the deficit 14-7.

The All Blacks Sevens have fallen to the United States 17-0 in the quarter-finals of the Vancouver tournament.

Some loss of concentration enabled Carlin Isle to wade through for a try that stretched USA's lead to 19-12 but Injera turned on the pistons to lay the ground for William Ambaka to score a thriller from a tackle and level 19-19 as the hooter sounded. Collins Injera made an intervention then gave ball to Agero who passed to Ouma and the latter dashed forward to hand Kenya a 24-19 victory.

England tried their luck but unfortunately time was not on their side as they spilled the ball Dan Sikuta collecting the ball to kick it away off the field to end the quarterfinals proceedings.

Kenya opened the scoring after two minutes with a try to Willy Ambaka, the 99th of his World Series career.

Mocenacagi touched down on either side of halftime, first to draw Fiji level with Kenya at 12-12 at the break, then to begin a run of 19 unanswered points in the second half.
