Case Keenum Expected To Sign With Broncos

His 22 touchdown passes were the most by a Minnesota quarterback in a single season since Brett Favre tossed 33 scores in 2009.

Four days after the Browns dropped out of the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes by trading for Tyrod Taylor, the Broncos appear to have followed suit.

Or as Elway put it at the scouting combine: "I didn't say it".

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum intends on signing with the Denver Broncos when free agency opens on Wednesday. according o ESPN's Adam Schefter.

With Keenum headed to Denver, Cousins' potential destinations are now down to three teams: the Vikings, the Cardinals and the Jets. He even missed the entire 2014 season with an ACL injury.

According to 9News Denver, Keenum's deal is expected to be a short-term agreement, suggesting it won't preclude the Broncos from taking a quarterback with the fifth overall pick in next month's draft if they so choose.

The knock-on effect of Keenum's move could see last season's Denver starter Trevor Siemian traded or released while the likes of Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater are the other two names who could leave the Vikings and assess their options elsewhere.

In 2017, Keenum threw 22 touchdown passes compared to only seven interceptions, and had a 98.3 passer rating, the seventh-best mark in the National Football League (and ahead of QBs such as Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Ben Roethlisberger, and Matt Ryan).

Keenum is also a player the Broncos felt they knew well given the team's senior personnel adviser and former coach Gary Kubiak coached Keenum for two seasons when Kubiak was the Texans' head coach. After reaching the peak of Super Bowl 50 two years ago, the Broncos have sunk on the heels of two playoff-less seasons. "I think we still have a good defensive football team". He started 15 games for the Vikings in 2016, completing 71.6-percent of his passes for 3,877 yards and 20 touchdowns.

But the biggest impact of all of this is the multimillion-dollar admission that Lynch has not become what the Broncos hoped he would be.

In 2012 it was Peyton Manning, and this year it's Case Keenum.
